Frances Herrera’s Biography

Frances Herrera has quickly become one of the top approachable and coveted interior designers on the East Coast. Since establishing her design firm in New York City in 2002, she expanded her services throughout South Florida in 2012 becoming a premier Coastal Designer and Ft. Lauderdale’s most coveted interior designer. Her clients call her work chic and stylish, elegant and engaging, sophisticated and original. While the spaces Frances designs all share her distinctive coastal style, her clients say she helps them imagine their future and coordinate designs that provide an instant sense of pleasure and peace.

Whether designing a modern, contemporary or traditional space, her philosophy remains the same: to create comfortable, livable rooms with an understated, sophisticated edge. She is most recognized for her ability to create welcoming, harmonious, sanctuary-like homes that feel polished and refined. “I don’t follow trends,” Frances said. “I let my clients’ passions and interests dictate the emotion and feel of the home. Ultimately, I design coastal homes that progress over time and reflect my clients’ ever-evolving lifestyles.”

Frances began her career at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, NY, where she studied until 2001. Initially, her professional positions were in the fashion industry, until she discovered an interest in architecture. It was during a summer hiatus to Italy and France, shortly after her college graduation, that she decided upon a career in interior design. She viewed it as an opportunity to combine her background in fashion with her passions for culture and structural aesthetics.

She soon began applying her ability to synthesize colors, textures, and patterns to reimagining interior spaces, drawing upon inspiration from her global travels, art, and nature. Frances also drew inspiration from other talented designers from all genres, her favorite of which are Vicente Wolf, Kelly Hoppen, Barbara Barry, and Oscar de la Renta.

Frances’ flair for transforming spaces and her infectious energy have captured countless fans, making her a natural TV personality and style expert. She has appeared numerous times on NBC’s Open House and George to the Rescue, and LXTV’s On the White Carpet. Her work has also been featured in several publications including HGTV, Real Simple, The Miami Herald, South Florida Luxury Guide, and City and Shore.
She was recognized as Woman of The Year in 2015 by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and Rock Star Philanthropist by Broward General Health. She’s a dedicated community leader, philanthropist, and an avid traveler.

When she is not designing, Frances has a busy personal life that mirrors her active professional one. “I love all aspects of the coast, from spending the day on the beach or on a boat, or just taking long walks or a jogging along the water,” she said. “The color of the sea and sky fill my soul with beauty and inspire my designs.”
